Selecting a solid gold necklace

Belcher, curb, figaro or Singapore rope? Perhaps you prefer another style altogether. It's a hard decision when choosing a gold necklace.

There are so many beautiful styles of chain, but in the end it comes down to a matter of personal choice. After you have decided on the style of gold chains you prefer for your necklace, you still have to consider the width of the links and the length.

Finer gold necklaces are great for showing off a pendant as they don't steal the lime light and allow the pendant itself to be the featured piece. The beauty of the finer chains is that you can remove any pendants and still wear the chain unadorned.

The size of the pendant you wish to wear on your solid gold necklace will largely determine the length of chain you will require. A good way to find the correct length is to fit the pendant to an existing chain and hold the ends together with the pendant sitting as you wish, then just measure how much chain was used.
